The latest addition ....

It's been some time since I last wrote in this blog. Been away from work for two months and been busy with work afterwards. As you can see, here's the latest addition to my family .... Daryn Arissa bt. Sahalan. Here's the baby a few hours after birth.

She looks more like her father ... don't know yet for sure, but that's what people say.

We call her Arissa, or Adik but Aiman calls her Baby. Everybody who knows Aiman asked about his reaction to the new baby. Well, I can say he accepted the fact that he's no longer the only child, but he seems okay about that. Thank God... Even Arina was fascinated by the baby ..... Wait till she becomes the little 'kakak'.

Arissa is now 3 months going on 4 months. She loves to smile and she loves to suck her little hands. 'Dia suka makan aiskrim' Aiman says.

Birthday celebration of 3 generations

The family decided to combine birthdays of 5 members from July to September since most of the birthdays will fall in Ramadhan. I ordered a set of cakes from my dear friend Shaz, you can visit her blog @ http://mamachaksrecipe.blogspot.com/.

And guess what, since 3/5 of those celebrated consists of the Geng bas sekolah, the theme has to be anything of their favs. To be fair, there were Transformers and Disney Princesses. The members whom we celebrated were my mom, my sister, Maisarah, Aiman & Damia. The kids love the cakes. Aiman doesn't want to cut the Bumblebee. Aiyooo ... mcmana nak mkn kek mcm ni? Takkan nak tengok aje kan.... The cakes were yummy .... choc cakes. And my sister ordered some cute chocs from her friend ....

Well ... kids being kids. Their fascination were only for a while. Then they were busy with their birthday gifts. They were very excited with all the goodies.... They were busy tearing the wrappers ... next time just wrap in paper lama ajelah.

After busy checking the gifts, they decided it's time for more fun. They jumped excitedly into the new pool. There were a lot of splashing & noise. Even the baby joined in. She's not afraid of the water at all. They stayed in the water until their hands & feets became wrinkled.

Finally we managed to drag everybody out of the pool. And here they are .... posing atas motor atok pulak.....

Kenduri

The previous weekend was full of 'kenduris'. It's a kind of practice in some places that people will offer 'kenduri' when Ramadhan is coming. It could be any kind of 'kenduri'; kenduri arwah, doa selamat or kenduri kahwin. We attended the kenduri 2 days in a row, which ended yesterday with a kenduri kahwin. All the foods were delicious but we can only eat that much. Besides, I've started to be a picky eater, trying to avoid all those yummy sambal udang & rendang daging. Don't know lah, just doesn't have the appetite for spicy foods for now.

My youngest sister came back bringing a big plastic pool. Aiman & his cousin Arina were very happy splashing around in the pool. No pics of that since I forgot to bring my camera. But those two kids were happy in the water, they don't want to come out. Wish the other two cousins were there to complete the rowdy bunch of 'Geng bas sekolah'.

Transformers

Well its a bit late but its about joining the latest craze of Transformers. My beloved son is already attracted to Transformers (or anything that can change from car to robot & vice versa) way long before the film was out.

He readily poses with the poster in front of TGV Bkt. Tinggi. Lucky he didn't beg me to pose with the thing in front of all Petronas stations. Kalau tak jenuh lah nak amik gambar. But one thing for sure, he's been pestering me regarding the figurines @ Petronas. "Ma, bila Optimus Prime nak sampai? Tanyalah org Petronas tu". Aiyoo ... sometimes headache. Try telling a 5 year old about dates. He thought every time we fill in the tank, we can buy the toys.

Well Aiman got his wish last night. He insisted that he want to ask the cashier himself. We went up to the counter & he stood there. The girl smiled & asked "Ya adik nak apa?". And the adik answered " Nak lori". He was so proud of himself, he told daddy about it. Well that wraps up his collection of the Petronas Transformers figurines. He insists that we either call him Bumblebee or Optimus Prime only. I called him Megatron one time. Scolded me, telling he's not Megatron. "Megatron tu org jahat. Babah tu Megatron". So now daddy is labeled as Megatron. Phew ... kids & their imagination...

Oh btw ... for those who are guessing did we watch the movie? No we did not. Just posing in front of the poster while we're @ Jusco BBT.

Proton COE

We had an appointment involving the latest addition in our family. No .... not the baby yet! The baby's due in a few months. I'm talking about the car. Went to Proton COE (Centre of Excellence) @ Shah Alam.

Aiman as usual enjoys being in any car showroom. Busy snapping away some pics while the car was being serviced.

These two people with the Lotus. Ambik gambar ajelah, berangan. Kalau ada pon rasa sayang nak bawak car tu. Cantik sgt ....

Aiman said the red car is for him & dad, while the purple one (Lotus Elise) is for me. I wish ....

Langkawi Revisited (Final Part)

Found the time to update this blog. So, still with the Langkawi story, on the last day, we visited Underwater World. Ohhh .. before that we went to Awana Porto Malai first since it's still too early to visit Underwater. Awana is one of my fav spot in Langkawi. It has a very nice view of the sea & the islands. The water is crystal clear and we saw some beautiful fish swimming. Such a heavenly sight!

After a while there, we headed to the Underwater World. Everybody got the gov rate for the entrance fee. Aiman was afraid of the big fishes (they're bigger than him). There's a 3D movie show every hour. It was very fascinating seeing all those deep sea creatures.

There's this corner where you can actually hold some starfish (I did), some small fish and some sea cucumber (bukan timun...tapi gamat). This beautiful creature is called the dragon what ahh ... (I have a mental block lah pulak). It's actually a type of fish.

Can you recognize this little Eskimo boy?

We still have much time before our flight back home so we headed to the Langkawi Shopping Fair Mall. Nothing much to tell here.

All in all I am satisfied with this trip. Have been wanting to go back to Langkawi for quite some time. Alhamdulillah .. everything went well and as planned. Glad to be able to bring along my parents (I know my mom have been pestering my dad to go to L'kawi - beli pinggan lah apa lagi). Hoping to go some other time. Nak shopping Corelle lagi.....

Reminders for those who planned to visit Langkawi (or never been there before).
1. Try to arrange your schedule out of the peak season. Peak season in Langkawi: School holiday (if possible a big no-no), LIMA (the maritime & aircraft exhibition) and Le Tour de Langkawi.
Reason is simple: those so-called entrepeneurs will surely 'ketuk' you 'kaw-kaw punya' during the peak season. We rented a Nissan Serena (7 seater) for only RM 80 per day. But during those peak season the price could skyrocket up to RM 250 per day. Same goes for other things e.g. meals etc.

2. Do not take too much clothing there as you'll tend to buy some shirts or stuff. So no point packing your luggage to the brim, yet you still shop for clothes there. One more thing you could use those extra space to stuff chocs, kain batiks, souvenirs and what not.

3. During packing back home, do not put the metal stuff that you've bought in the hand luggage (e.g. spoon, forks, senduk etc.). The Customs will make a fuss of it. So better stow those things in the cargo.

4. Do not forget your sunblock, sunscreen or what-so-ever esp. if you're going to the beach. For those with kids, you'll be dragged by them to the beach I tell you!

Langkawi revisited (Part 2)

The next day we went to the Langkawi Cultural Craft Complex at Teluk Yu. It consist of mainly batik crafts (there are beautiful paintings), wood crafts & some 'anyaman'.

This item caught my attention. It's called bunga batu hidup. The description stated that it's not a coral. They are colourful and quite costly.

Then we're off to Tanjung Rhu which according to hubby is the nicest beach of Langkawi. My fav beach of Langkawi is Pantai Pasir Tengkorak. According to the folks there some of the islands that we saw there are situated in Thailand. Don't know for sure, we didn't bring the navigator. This is Tanjung Rhu, just ignore the yellow chair. Spoil the scenery je.

Our next stop was the fav spot for all the ladies of Malaysia (or everywhere else). Apa lagi shopping time! The rain doesn't hinder our 'niat suci untuk shopping'. The 3 men (or you could say 2 & a half men) had to tag along. Especially hubby, my fav banker! No photos of course, we were too busy!!!

Wait for Part 3...

Langkawi revisited (Part 1)

I used to work in Langkawi for a couple of years. It's one of my family's favourite vacation spot. So we decided to go Cuti2 Malaysia this time around. Stayed at Pantai Cenang. Visited some of the places we'd never been. Our first stop was Dataran Helang (Lang). Aiman wanted to swim in the fountain pool there. Daddy & Atok had to restrain him, otherwise he surely would get his feet in the water.
Next we went to Oriental Village. There are some animal show here, souvenir shops and the best of all The Cable Car. Since none of us have ever been in a cable car before, we were very excited to try it ....including Aiman. It was a bit scary once the gondola heads for Gunung Mat Chincang. Aiman became very quite... Everybody felt a bit 'gayat'.

But once we were on top of the mountain, the scenery was simply breathtaking. You can see the blue sea dotted with some yachts. During the ride we saw a beautiful waterfall ~ Telaga Tujuh.

The cable car has the longest suspension in the world between two stations. It was built without constructing any roads through the jungle. Some people were seen walking the walkway at the highest station. The ride was more than enough for me!

In the evening, Aiman wanted to go to the sea which is just at the back of our place. The scenery was beautiful. There are some water sports for those enthusiasts e.g. banana boat ride, parachute ride & jet ski. And as usual Aiman doesn't want to come out of the water.

Enough for Part 1. Will continue later about the chocs, kain batik & Corelle!

Shevchenko or Bob the Builder?

This was during last weekend. Hubby had some projects going on in the garden, so the little boy decided to join daddy. Seemed so busy with his toy handphone and lorry. Luckily he forgot about his Bob the Builder construction hat. Otherwise I'd have to find it for him.

One thing I found out about my son, he loves to draw. Here's a masterpiece from him, on the wall of my office.

I'm back after soooo long

Finally I managed to get some time off from the hectic schedule to update this "cobwebbed" blog. See this stack of thing? It gave everybody @ the office big time headaches. For the time being we're done with it.

However, want to recall a kenduri-like event earlier in April. Arina, my niece turned 1 on the 19th of April, so we had an early celebration. There were plenty of yummy food, plenty of people (all the uncles & aunts were invited) & plenty of noise created by the geng bas sekolah. Mind you there are only 3 under 12 kids (4 counting the b'day girl) - but were they loud! Mom ordered the b'day cake which was nicely decorated & yummy too.

Somebody's been asking me about the Spiderman stickers @ the back of my car. Wait till you see this Spiderman! Can you recognize him? The difference between this spidey & the one in the tv, this one's wearing a 'kain pelikat'. Mesti susah Spidey nak bergayut sbb pakai kain...

CNY holiday

It's a long holiday for most people. Decided on a spur of a moment for a picnic @ FRIM, Kepong. Had time to pack Aiman's clothes & prepare a light picnic lunch. Thank God the place was not that packed when we arrived. Found a nice parking spot and wallah .... here we are. The scenery was simply breathtaking! The lush greenery and the waterfall is absolutely astounding. There are also 'Taman Herba', Taman Etnobotani" and such. I know the 'doctor pokok' @ my office loves this kind of surroundings.

The water is so clear and cold. It was a bliss for us to be there during this hot weather. Even Aiman agrees "sejuknya...". And when he got into the water, he doesn't wanna go out. Happily enjoying a pack of chips in the water. He really enjoyed himself in the cold clear water.

In the end we had to coax him out of the water. Even then he still lagged about, said he wanted to go to the other side etc. Daddy had to follow him while I'm stuck with all the bags. In the end we had an icecream treat from daddy.

Then off to the small hanging bridge. I thought he's going to be scared on the bridge. But I was wrong... he ran from one end to the other amidst the swaying of the bridge.

We went back exhausted but satisfied with our little trip. I wish we could have more natural parks of this kind. It's especially important for the kids to enjoy & appreciate nature, not just the man-made parks which can be found literally almost anywhere.
Just my point of view ....
